Research shows chiropractic patients are healthier and may even live longer

People often ask me, “Why do I need a chiropractor? My back feels fine.” I tell them the truth: Because your life will be better, healthier and possibly even longer if you see a chiropractor. What? Chiropractors can extend life? Yes, and there is research to prove it.

Human DNA is subject to stress.

“Serum thiols are primary antioxidants, and serve as a measure of human health status. The test provides a surrogate estimate of DNA repair enzyme activity, which has been shown to correlate with lifespan and aging.”

Everyday our bodies have to deal with stress – And there are all kinds of stress. We think of stress as a mental strain, but it more than that. There is emotional stress, physical stress and chemical stress. All of these cause physiological stress. This physiological stress causes free-radicals to be released, leading to oxidative stress. These oxygen molecules are actually not a good form of oxygen. They cause damage, and are linked to diseases.

“In humans, oxidative stress is involved in many diseases. Examples include Sickle Cell Disease, atherosclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, heart failure, myocardial infarction, Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorder, fragile X syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome, but short-term oxidative stress may also be important in prevention of aging by induction of a process named mitohormesis. Reactive oxygen species can be beneficial, as they are used by the immune system as a way to attack and kill pathogens. The major portion of long term effects is inflicted by damage on DNA.” – Wikipedia

So what does this have to do with chiropractic? Research has shown that the body produces serum thiol. “Serum thiols are primary antioxidants, and serve as a measure of human health status. The test provides a surrogate estimate of DNA repair enzyme activity, which has been shown to correlate with lifespan and aging.” Current research is finding that people who see a chiropractor have a greater ability to deal with various forms of stress, as well an increase in serum thiol levels. This occurs in short periods of care, but it was shown that  long-term patients who saw a chiropractor for 2-years or longer had a significant increase serum thiols.

The source of all the info in your body - the nervous system!

Your spine is the sourse of all the processes in your body. It carries the signals to and from all of your cells, and allows your body to adapt to various forms of stress.

Since DNA is the building-blocks of your body, we should do anything and everything to ensure its health and well-being. The current theories on aging look at DNA, something that is in every cell in our bodies – It is what tells cells their jobs and there make-up. When we loose information in our DNA, something that free-radicals do, we get errors in the new cells that are created. These errors are what researchers are linking to aging, and body dysfunctions.

  1. So recently I was looking up low-toxicity chemotherapy. I came across a few interesting things: bio-tech therapy, which increases immune function in the body; sodium-bicarbonate and its use in killing cancer in an Italian oncology practice, and having great results; and the Gerson Therapy, which is a juice/raw food diet that has had amazing results over its long life-line.

Well, one thing I noticed with my research was the level of oxidative stress on a cancer patient’s body – this is one reason that the Person Therapy is so successful. This research article in Nature explains the link between aging, cancer and oxidative stress.
